CG.TEC had made major investments in 2015 and 2016: 5 hybrid and electrical injection-molding machines, a vision 3D measurement machine to inspect new product lines and articulated robots to equip presses.
The move for 6 axis robots was challenging for the development team: their high cost and complexity in programming has long prevailed over their advantages. In the meanwhile the robot cells are functional. Their design and implementation were carried out internally.
Downstream operations like automated camera inspection and orienting the part for packaging are not the only advantages. 6-axis robots also offer new schemes to ease removal of miniature parts or where space is scarce in the mold. They are hosted in movable cells, so as to bring flexibility in the production hall.
The ultimate aim is of course to improve efficiency through time-saving and add new downstream operations.
